Get to Know: La Vie en Orange
Tell us about your brand and your business model.
La Vie en Orange is for people who see the sunshinier side of life. We think clothes should be fun and eco-friendly and there’s no better place to start than your undies.
We make underwear for women, men, and transgender folks (or just for gender play) out of repurposed tshirts. We screen print the tees with original artwork (unless a tee’s original motif is just too fabulous to pass up), and hand make the undies in Kalamazoo, Michigan. We offer made-to-order goodies, ready-to-ship goodies, and an Underwear of the Month Club too.
One of the things our clients love most about our label is the Hot Booty Guarantee. So, alterations are included if your undies arrive and you don’t love how they fit. We don’t ever want a pair of our undies languishing unworn in someone’s undies drawer. And once we have a client’s perfect fit locked in, any time they place an order, we’ll cut them to their specifications. We sell primarily online, sometimes in person at pop-up shops or fairs, and we’re trying to figure out what works for us and retailers re: wholesale.
What drove you to start your own label? And what have you enjoyed the most so far?
I moved to Seattle several years back and felt really disconnected from all the things that made Michigan home (family, friends, sunshine, community). I started La Vie en Orange on Etsy as a way to reconnect with my creative side and build a touchstone in my new surroundings. Making underwear is normal in my family: my Granma makes underwear for my Dad and Granpa and I’ve been making my own for a long time too. I didn’t realize it was weird until I started telling people about it.
For a long time, La Vie en Orange was the only thing that felt like home in my new city. Little did I know that it would become so much more than a hobby! And what have I enjoyed most? I love all the ways my business pushes me. To take chances, to be uncomfortable, to grow as a person, to think bigger, to expand my limits, to ask for help, to learn, to experiment, to fail, to succeed. I had no idea what I was in for!
What are one or two big goals you’re focusing on in the next 6 months?
In the upcoming 6 months, we’ll be rebranding as Kori Jock. It’s kind of always been a hybrid personal brand, and having a French business name in an English speaking country hasn’t been the easiest thing, so I’m finally letting it go. Wish me luck!

My brand originally started off as soft lace lingerie for petite and small busted women. All items are hand made and currently direct to consumer through our website. The designs have a feminine and slightly cheeky feel and look to them. I have slowly been developing a range of bridal lingerie and with that a collection of wedding garter which will all be launched later this year.
