Get to Know: Belle Ampleur
Tell us about your brand and your business model.
Belle Ampleur is a celebration of women of beautiful scale. We make high-quality clothing by hand to perfectly fit every curve of your gorgeous body.
Belle Ampleur functions in the style of an atelier, with each garment made to order. We believe in slow fashion, with focus on quality over quantity, and building a deep relationship with each of our clients.
Our garments are currently made to order, and not available in stores. We have pop up shops periodically, hosted by boutiques in the Pacific Northwest for those who want to try on a garment in person. Garments can be ordered via the website.
What drove you to start your own label? And what have you enjoyed the most so far?
Belle Ampleur is a response to the lack of quality, high end choices in the plus size market. Most garments offered for plus size bodies are made cheaply and quickly overseas, with no attention to fit or special details. I wanted a different experience for women, one that focuses on their needs and desires. I wanted to make clothing that fits, lasts, and is made from natural fibers. I love getting to know my customers, and hearing them delight in being able to try on and buy clothing that actually fits!
What are one or two big goals you’re focusing on in the next 6 months?
Financing my business, so that I can offer garments in boutiques, and focusing on the fit of my garments so they need minimal alterations when purchased.
