Get to Know: Marinia
Tell us about your brand and your business model.
Marinia inspires and nurtures the urban elegance of every woman by transforming mainstream trends into a distinctive fashion experience. The fusion of striking details and sophisticated materials creates a design meant to leave a lasting impression while highlighting your inner urbanite.
What drove you to start your own label? And what have you enjoyed the most so far?
The interplay of forms, coupled with my innate feeling for creating, have been the driving force for both my designs and life in general. Art has been central to me from an early age and my passion led me to complete a Masters in Graphic Design in 2008 at the University of Belgrade, Serbia. Since then, I have gained valuable practical experience having worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, and textile designer for several companies while also being a university associate in the Department of Design.
With the desire to share my unique creations with others, I started to sew my own designs. In 2016, the Marinia team was formed with the desire to broaden the appeal and accessibility to my creations that are certain to inspire innovative urbanites.
What I have enjoyed the most is transforming my ideas into actual pieces that form various collections.
What are one or two big goals you’re focusing on in the next 6 months?
Currently, I am focusing on finalizing my Fall 17 Collection that will be presented by Art Hearts Fashion in September 2017 at the New York Fashion Week (NYFW).
Following the NYFW, my next goal is to create a Winter 17/18 Collection that will be shown at the Serbia Fashion Week.
